The VCS Center for Conflict Resolution offers a range of programs, including the following:
Community-Based Mediation
An alternative to the court system for resolving civil and minor criminal disputes such as tenant/landlord problems, neighborhood disputes, small claims, family conflicts, and mobile home disputes. NOTE: Mediation is not appropriate for disputes associated with domestic violence.

Special Education Mediation
Disputes are mediated between parents/guardians of children in special education classes and local school districts.

Arbitration
Court-referred small claims cases and disputes related to the New York State Attorney General's Lemon Law Program.
Population Served: People in conflict
Fees: No fee for arbitration of small claims; however, a Lemon Law fee
is paid directly to the New York State Attorney General's Office.

Conflict Resolution Programs
Educational in-service training and consultation for school administrators, teachers and parents, businesses, public and private agencies; peer mediation training for youth.

Conflict Management in the Schools Program
A program providing the necessary skills in conflict management for everyone involved in the educational life of children, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and parents.

Surrogate Decision Making Committee
Community-based assistance for persons with developmental disabilities who are in need of medical procedures.
